DOOR DASH DRIVER WRECKS ON I-485, ACCUSED OF DWI AND HITTING GIRLFRIEND

Courtni walked away bloody and bruised after an altercation and DWI arrest on I-485

Courtni Barrett, 27, was arrested on January 10, 2025 after getting into a crash in Charlotte, NC on Interstate 485. Courtni is also accused of getting into a fight with her girlfriend at the time, Shantelle Jones. Follow Charlotte Alerts on Instagram.

The incident was on January 10th around 10 p.m. when Courtni was delivering food for Door Dash, her girlfriend was in the car too and they began arguing.

Courtni was driving on I-485 when she lost control of the vehicle and crashed. The vehicle went into the woods near mile marker 43.

Passing motorists called 911 to report the highway crash. When emergency workers arrived, Courtni was allegedly on top of Shantelle striking her, scratching her face and neck.

Shantelle was screaming for help. A bystander separated the women. Cops say Courtni had alcohol on her breath, and allegedly admitted to drinking alcohol.

A man jumped onto I-485 and killed himself

Police say there were several open containers of alcohol in the crashed vehicle. Courtni refused all standard field sobriety tests and breathalyzer tests. Courtni sustained massive facial bruising from the fight and the wreck.

Courtni was arrested charged with DWI, assault, and open container.
