CITY OF CHARLOTTE EMPLOYEE KILLED IN HOUSE FIRE

Robert Wilson, 44, was killed on April 30, 2023 in a house fire on Elderbank Drive Charlotte, NC. Robert was a solid waste employee with the City of Charlotte.

The time was around 2:45 a.m. when an electrical malfunction caused a fire in the house. Robert was sleep when the fire began.

As smoke and fire filled the house, Robert awoke but he was unable to escape the house, due to the heat and heavy black smoke.

It is not known if Robert was burnt to death by the fire or died from smoke inhalation. Neighbors called 911 to report the fire. The Charlotte Fire Department arrived and put the fire out in 23 minutes.  

Robert leaves behind an adult daughter and a loving family. Robert was a graduate of West Charlotte High School.
