The China Express restaurant scored an 86 B on a health safety inspection on May 23, 2023. The restaurant is located at 315 South Polk Street Pineville, NC. There was a lack of managerial control. Medication was stored on shelving with onions, soy sauce, & canned, and dry storage goods.

A bell pepper inside the walk in cooler had a mold like substance growing on it. The inspector had the food thrown away.
Unwashed mushrooms were stored above clean washed food in the walk-in cooler.
Sauces along with fried rice and eggs were stored uncovered in the refrigerator. Pans were stored as clean with food debris on the food contact surface.
The inspector observed dead roaches inside pans that were stored as clean. There were also 4 alive roaches in the kitchen. Additionally, there were dead insects/pests below the prep and 3 compartment sinks.
A manager at Pho Real was seen coughing in his hands and then touching clean plates.
A meat grinder was stored as clean and had meat residue and dripping meat juices on it.
Shrimp, chicken, pork, peas & carrots, lo mein, spring rolls, pot stickers, and chicken on a stick were stored at unsafe temperatures above 41F inside the prep unit.

Chicken was thawing in standing water on the prep sink. Dirty handles of scoops inside containers of sugar and flour were submerged in the condiments.
Debris and build-up were on the shelving inside the walk-in cooler. The floors in the freezer were dirty.
