U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Brownsville and Matamoros International Bridge in Texas intercepted a load of cocaine, heroin and methamphetamine. U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers discovered the narcotics, valued at approximately $205,852, hidden within a 2011 Chevrolet Cruze.
The seizure took place on Saturday, January 18, 2020 when a 29-year-old male Mexican citizen applied for entry into the United States driving a 2011 Chevrolet Cruze. The driver was referred to secondary for further examination after a primary inspection.
In secondary, with the aid of a non-intrusive imaging system and a canine unit, officers discovered 26 packages which contained a total of 13.40 pounds of cocaine, 1.72 pounds of heroin and 3.17 pounds of methamphetamine hidden within the vehicle.
The estimated street value of the cocaine, heroin and methamphetamine from the seizure is $103,360, $39,000 and $9,436 respectively.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers seized the narcotics along with the vehicle, arrested the driver and turned him over to the custody of Homeland Security Investigations special agents for further investigation.
