10 POUNDS OF METH SEIZED BY BORDER PROTECTION OFFICERS

Date:

U.S. Customs and Border Protection Officers at the Blue Water Bridge in Port Huron have seized nearly 10 pounds of methamphetamine from a Canadian man attempting to enter the United States.

At approximately 7:00am on Wednesday March 13, Canadian Citizen Constantine Xethalis, was encountered at the Blue Water Bridge attempting to make entry into the United States. During the primary inspection Xethalis along with a passenger in the vehicle were unable to provide proof of citizenship to the CBP Officer during their primary inspection and were referred for a secondary inspection.

During a secondary inspection of the vehicle, a bag containing nearly ten pounds of Methamphetamine in tablet form were revealed. A sample of the tablets were taken to the Oakland County Laboratory for examination, where they were confirmed to contain methamphetamine.

The U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Michigan has accepted prosecution on the case. Xethalis is being charged with 21 U.S.C. 952 Importation of a Scheduled 1 Controlled Substance along with 21 U.S.C. 841 Possession with Intent to Distribute Controlled Substance.
