FORMER COLLEGE BASKETBALL PLAYER MURDERED IN STREET BALL GAME

It was suppose to be a friendly pick-up game of basketball, but things turned violent as one player was shot and killed

Haiishen Mcintyre, 27, was shot and killed during a street basketball game at North Mecklenburg Park, 16131 Old Statesville Road Huntersville, NC. Haiishen was a former college basketball player at High Point University in High Point, NC.

Haiishen was a great player and scored many points for the university. On August 29, 2021 a basketball game erupted in gunfire, resulting in Haiishen being shot at approximately 6:15 pm. 

Several people were playing a heated and intense basketball game. Tempers began to flare, and a verbal altercation ensued between individuals playing in the basketball game. During the altercation, shots were fired and Haiishen was struck.

Everyone ran after the shooting.

Officers were called and they located Haiishen suffering from a single gunshot wound. The victim was subsequently transported to the hospital in critical condition. 

But, in efforts to save his life, medical staff performed multiple surgeries on Haiishen at the hospital. 

Nearly a week after the shooting, Haiishen died from the injuries he sustained in the shooting. No arrests have been made. 

Another college basketball player was shot and killed in July 2021. Eric Howell, 29, played basketball at Livingtstone College in Salisbury, NC.
