On June 28, 2022 a Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department officer was shot on East 36th Street Charlotte, NC.
At 2:30 a.m. there was an issue with a patron at The Blind Pig establishment on East 36th Street. The patron was asked to leave the business after an altercation ensued.
The patron left and shots were fired at or near the business. Officers responded to the shooting.
Shortly after responding, one officer was shot in the leg by a suspect. The cop was transported to an area hospital in stable condition. There is no indication at this time that officers returned fire, although that is unlikely, as cops are trained to shoot people when they get shot at.
Detectives are continuing to search for the suspect, as he/she has not been caught.
