9 BRICKS OF COCAINE FOUND ON INTERSTATE 77 TRAFFIC STOP

Luis Burgos, 38, and Jeffrey Rivera, 36, were charged with cocaine trafficking during a drug bust on Interstate 77 in Charlotte, NC. 9 kilograms of cocaine were found hidden in a van. Kilograms are otherwise known as bricks. Luis and Jeffrey are from Florida, the men were in Charlotte allegedly to sell bricks of cocaine.

In June 2022 a Toyota minivan occupied by Luis and Jeffrey was on Interstate 77 near the Tyvola Road exit. Charlotte cops observed that the front driver and passenger windows of the van were darker than the legal limit in North Carolina.

Officers initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle. 

During the stop a police K-9 officer pulled up to the traffic stop location, a K9 had a positive alert on the external parts of the vehicle, noting drugs.

Officers removed Luis and Jeffrey from the vehicle and began to search the van. While searching the interior of the vehicle cops were able to remove approximately 9.43 kilograms of cocaine from a hidden compartment inside the dashboard.

The suspects were taken into custody and charged with trafficking in cocaine. The suspects were allegedly on the way to deliver the cocaine to a buyer in Charlotte. The  suspects had drove all the way from Kissimmee, Florida. The drugs were seized.
