A violent shootout between police and a black male suspect occurred on May 7, 2023 in Charleston, SC.
In the afternoon a squad car pulled over a vehicle for lane change violations. An officer approaches the suspect vehicle driven by a white female, a black male was the passenger.
The cop explains the reason for the traffic stop and asks the male passenger to step out of the car. The male suspect then reaches for a gun and shoots at 2 cops on scene.
Both of the cops run. One of the cops is shot 3 times in the leg. Officers return fire and shoot the suspect dead.
The female driver was not physically injured. The shot cop went to the hospital in critical condition.
