Several black men have been shot dead by Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Officers. Several officers have been fired after racist text messages of cops admitting to targeting black people, pulling black folks over without reason, arresting black folks for no reason, and wanting to shoot black folks for no reason– knowing that most dont have the money to sue the police. Most recently police in Charlotte chased and killed Curtis Massey when he was just talking to other black people. Major Stephen Iyevbele fired a cop earlier this year for disrespecting citizens and unlawful searches. Police do not live to a higher standard, they live to a lower standard and they look down on people
Multiple Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department officers were in a racist group chat in 2026 calling black people niggers. Someone snitched on the group text messages and brought the racist intentions to light. In September 2026 The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department racially profiled and unlawfully shot and killed Curtis Massey, 47. For years Charlotte Alerts News has been warning about the racism and unconstitutional searches and arrests by the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department. Several people of color have been gunned down and killed by police at the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department. Multiple victims pictured below have been killed at the hands of CMPD officers.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department cited six officers for termination in October 2026 after cops appeared in racist text messages calling black people niggers, targeting black people, planning on shooting black people, and arresting black people for no reason.
The racial investigation was brought to light after CMPD Officer Seth Elliott, 25, was arrested by the State Bureau of Investigation accused of telling a drug dealer about an undercover police investigation.
Cops searched Officer Seth’s phone and some how discovered a racist group chain text. The text messages involved around 6 plus CMPD cops calling black people niggers, saying how they want to shoot black people for no reason, arrest black people for no reason, pull black people over for no reason, and target black people.
Attorneys in Charlotte have told Charlotte Alerts News directly that Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department cops do very egregious things on scenes and on body camera, knowing that most black people do not have the money to file a lawsuit on the police department.
The Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department has been arresting people for no reason for years, cops think they can do whatever they want too. There is even a fraternity for CMPD police and they have tattoos on their body that mark the fraternity.
Police shot and killed Curtis Massey in September 2026 just for talking with a group of black people outside of a store, cops automatically assumed Curtis was doing something wrong just because he was black and talking. Cops then chased Curtis for no reason and then shot and killed him. The family of Curtis is expected to sue The Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department for millions of dollars for wrongful death, racial discrimination, civil rights violations, 4th amendment constitutional violations, pain & suffering along with other legal claims.
The officers involved in the text were fired.
Video shows police unlawfully shooting Danquirs Franklin at Burger King, his family later won a $1.5 million dollar settlement. That was after soft on police District Attorney Spencer Merriweather said the police did not do anything wrong by killing Danquirs. Even a right ring republican federal judge dismissed the lawsuit saying the police were right in killing Danquirs. The attorney for the family took the case to the state appeals court, the appeals court ruled that the police were wrong in killing Danquirs, it was only then that the police department decided to settle and give the family of Danquirs $1.5 million.
District Attorney Spencer Merriweather has never ruled that police were wrong when killing black people in Charlotte during his entire time as Mecklenburg County district attorney.
34-year-old Sanrico McGill was shot and killed by CMPD police on December 16, 2023.

Cops behave very badly and do not follow the U.S. Constitution at all, especially the 4th Amendment of protection against illegal search and seizure. In fact Major Stephen Iyevbele of the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department had to fire a CMPD cop earlier this year for disrespecting citizens and making unlawful searches. Major Iyevbele is not a suspect in the racist texts.
Police brag about living by a higher standard, it is obvious that cops live by a lower standard. Police think they are better than regular people, cops look down on people.
