A Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department cop was arrested accused of using CJ Leads and Flock Camera database to tip off drug dealer about undercover cops that were planning cop orchestrated drug deals
On July 29, 2026 CMPD Officer Seth Elliott, 25, was arrested by the State Bureau of Investigation accused of telling a drug dealer about an undercover police investigation.
Officer Seth apparently was friends with a drug dealer in Watauga County.
Undercover cops with the Watauga County Sheriff’s Office tried to do a drug deal with the drug dealer. But the drug dealer refused and then contacted Officer Set because they were friends.
The drug dealer asked Officer Seth to look up information on the license plates of the fake drug dealers because the real drug dealer was suspicious of them.
Officer Seth then allegedly granted his friend drug dealer’s request and used police computer databases CJ Leads and Flock Camera to lookup the license plates, court documents say. Officer Seth saw in the mentioned computer systems that the license plates were those of undercover cops, according to prosecutors.
Officer Seth is accused of then telling his drug dealer friend that the plates belonged to undercover cops. Some how the SBI got involved and saw that Officer Seth did the license plate lookup.
The SBI then arrested Officer Seth charging him with illegally accessing a government computer, a Class 1 misdemeanor.
