INMATE SENTENCED TO LIFE IN PRISON AFTER VICTIM MURDERED AND SHOT IN HEAD AT APARTMENTS

In August 2026 Lawrence Jackson, 52, was sentenced to life in prison after a jury found him guilty of the June 2023 shooting that killed 33-year-old Justin Johnson. Follow Charlotte Alerts on Instagram.

Justin was shot and killed on June 9, 2023 in Charlotte, NC at an apartment on Peppervine Ln. Lawrence was dating Justin’s mom, and they were all living in the same apartment.

Justin had enough of living in the same house with Lawrence, because they did not get along. Justin did not enjoy seeing Lawrence kiss on his mom.

Justin was in the process of moving out and Lawrence shot him in the head. Justin died on scene. Lawrence was arrested while sleeping in his car at a motel off Brookshire Blvd. in the early morning of June 11, 2023. Lawrence was arrested charged with murder.

At the 2026 trial a jury convicted Lawrence of murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. Lawrence was convicted of a felony in New York in 2005, which prompted his felon status.
