The suspect allegedly had an eye on diamonds at Reeds Fine Jewelry and is accused of stealing, and then running across ‘Eye’-77 to escape cops
Austin Mcclure, 22, was arrested on January 21, 2026 accused of stealing a gold and diamond bracelet from Reeds Fine Jewelry in Charlotte, NC. Follow Charlotte Alerts on Instagram.
Austin is accused of entering the jewelry store and taking a gold bracelet that was diamond encrusted at a value of $9,750. Jewelry stores are usually a big target for criminals. Austin is accused of running from the store with the bracelet and not paying for the high priced merchandise.
Cops were called and a chase began. A foot chase eventually started on Interstate 77. Austin is accused of running across Interstate 77 on foot from cops, dodging traffic and fast moving vehicles.
It appears the suspect got tired and stopped. Austin was arrested charged with felony larceny. It is unknown if Austin had an injury during arrest to cause eye problems or if he already had a medical issue regarding his eye.
