A triple shooting ended with 2 men dead, one was son of a preacher lady

18-year-old Colby Smith and Gabriel Lee, 27, were both killed in a double homicide on July 5, 2025. The victims were murdered in a triple shooting in uptown Charlotte, NC on North Caldwell Street. Follow Charlotte Alerts on Instagram.

Colby and Gabriel were shot during a 4th of July party at 1:30 a.m. Several people were at the party. A fight broke out and shots were fired. 3 people were shot marking this as a triple shooting.

Gabriel, Colby, and another victim were all shot. Gabriel died on scene. Colby was taken to the hospital in an ambulance, he would later die during emergency surgery.

The third victim was transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries, but survived. No arrests have been made. Gabriel’s mother is a pastor in Charlotte, she has vowed to find those responsible for her son’s death.

Multiple “go fund mes” have been raised. 4th of July violence has ramped up, as there have been several homicides over the years.
