DUKE ENERGY EMPLOYEE KILLED, GETS ELECTROCUTED ON JOB

27-year-old Zach Jones was killed on August 14, 2024 in Charlotte, NC while he was working. Zach worked for Duke Energy and he was electrocuted on a housing construction site. Follow Charlotte Alerts on Instagram.

Zach was an ex-Marine. He had a girlfriend and they were set to be married soon. Zach was working on Wandering Creek Drive Charlotte, NC at a housing construction site.

Around 2 in the afternoon a live wire made contact with Zach and over 300,000 electrical volts went speeding through Zach’s body.

The electric shock knocked Zach to the ground and killed him instantly. Several other workers and contractors rushed to help Zach, but to no avail.

Paramedics and emergency crews arrived, but Zach was already dead. Zach is a graduate of Pender High School.

Duke Energy released a statement saying:

“Our hearts go out to our teammate’s family and fellow coworkers. We are currently investigating the incident to learn more and ask for privacy for the family at this time.”
