John Hopkins, 25, was sentenced to eight years in prison on Wednesday August 26, 2020 for molesting little girls. John was a gym teacher at Clearcreek Elementary School in Springboro, Ohio.
John normalized his behavior to the children, grooming them to think it was a healthy relationship.
John molested 28 first grade girls aged 6 to 7 years old at Clearcreek Elementary School during his gym classes, his actions were even caught on surveillance video. John would nuzzle and kiss the girls and then he would put his hands on their thighs and other body parts, and also inside of their shirts. John was so sadistic that he put his hands on girls’ crotch.
John’s defense attorneys argued that he was on the autism spectrum.
Springboro Schools released a statement that reads, in part:
“Mr. Hopkins’ behavior is unacceptable, and will not be tolerated now, or ever, within Springboro Schools. No child, or family, should ever have to experience what many of our Springboro families have gone through over this past year, and beyond. The actions taken by Mr. Hopkins caused a great deal of pain for numerous individuals in our community.”
Parents of the molested girls said they felt “appalled” and “disgusted” by John’s behavior. John faced 36 counts of gross sexual imposition.
