GROUP CHARGED IN 7-ELEVEN ROBBERY, BARRICADED THEMSELVES IN RESIDENCE

Armed Robbery detectives in Charlotte, NC have charged Zaire Witherspoon, 19, Dontavia McMorris, 16, Nathan Bellamy, 18, Paris Lee, 19, and Kiyara Stevens, 16, with robbery.

On June 28, 2019, at 5:30 a.m., the 7-Eleven located at Old Concord Road Charlotte, NC was robbed. The store clerk stated suspects attempted to rob the business at gunpoint. The clerk also stated that the suspects left on foot toward the residential neighborhood next to the store.

Officers were able to locate the suspects at a residence on Stourbridge Lion Drive where the suspects barricaded themselves inside. Officers set up a perimeter and members of the SWAT Team were activated and responded to the scene and made contact with the suspects. Residents of the neighboring homes were evacuated as a precaution.

The suspects surrendered after a short standoff and were arrested. They are all charged with Attempted Armed Robbery from Business and Conspiracy to Commit Robbery from Business.
