A large group of kids were riding bikes, Mikey was hit by a truck
On June 8, 2025 a young juvenile boy by the name of Mike Malanda, 12, was killed on Oakdale Road Charlotte, NC. His friends called him Mikey. Follow Charlotte Alerts on Instagram.
At 2:15 p.m. Mikey and his young friends were riding a combination of dirt bikes, 4 wheelers, and regular bikes. At the intersection on Oakdale Road and Auten Rd a truck hit Mikey as he was on one of the bikes.
A few other kids were hurt. Mikey died on scene. Mikey lived in Charlotte and played lacrosse. The intersection was closed for hours while police conducted an investigation.
It is not known who is at fault yet and the driver has not been arrested.
