Gay man Lance Sotelo was a marathon runner, he was killed in a hit and run crash, the woman that killed him only got 30 days in jail
On September 22, 2026 Q’Laundra Hood was sentenced to just 30 days in jail for killing homosexual marathon runner Lance Sotelo in Charlotte. Lance was a graduate of Queens University, he had just started a job and did not have insurance.
Lance was jogging on The Plaza in Charlotte, NC back in January 2026. Q’laundra was driving a vehicle and ran a red light, hitting Lance in the crosswalk area.
Q’Laundra kept driving. Lance died on the scene. Q’Laundra felt guilty and turned herself in at police headquarters the day after Lance was killed. She was arrested charged with felony hit and run, involuntary manslaughter, no operator’s license, and failing to stop at a red light.
At the September 2026 trial Q’laundra was convicted of the charges and sentenced to 30 days in jail plus probation.
