Jahday had his day of death in center city Charlotte, suspect claims self defense, says Jahday hit him in face
Jarius Jackson, 33, was arrested charged with the murder of Jahday Humphrey, 20, in uptown Charlotte, NC on Brevard Ct. Jahday was murdered on September 18, 2025. Follow Charlotte Alerts on Instagram.
Jahday was Muslim, but has been arrested numerous times.
Around 2 p.m. Jarius and Jahday were in an alley in center city Charlotte. An argument began over an issue. Jahday punched Jarius in the face multiple times. Jarius got angry and then shot Jahday several times.
Many 911 calls were made by workers at different businesses and customers having lunch. Paramedics arrived and took Jahday to the hospital where he soon died.
Jarius turned himself in on scene and claimed self defense since he was being punched by Jahday. Cops arrested Jarius anyway and charged him with murder.
Detectives spoke with the defendant post Miranda who described the series of events. The defendant
claimed to be in fear for his life but is on camera approaching the victim after he was punched shooting the
victim.
