A staggering shooting on September 15, 2024 shows NYPD Police Officer Wong shooting another NYPD cop on a subway in Brooklyn, NY. 37-year-old Derrell Mickles was the suspect that was armed with a knife. Gregory Delpeche, 49, was shot also, he was a subway rider.
The situation began on a subway platform entrance, video shows Derrell who is a black male jump the subway ticket entrance without paying.
NYPD Officer Wong and another NYPD cop then follow Derrell to stop him. They order Derrell to leave and he does. But Derrell then comes back to the subway and enters the subway platform again through a exit door, appearing to be handed a ticket by a exiting female.
The 2 cops then follow Derrell again up to the subway ordering him to stop and drop the knife he was carrying.
Derrell threatens to kill the cops and tells them to shoot him. Derrell gets on the subway and cops shoot tasers at him. The tasers have no effect on Derrell as he never even falls to the ground.
Derrell still has the knife in his hand and charges at one of the officers. Officer Wong then shoots at Derrell 9 times, Derrell is seen withstanding the bullets and then falling to the ground, Officer Wong missed a few times when shooting at Derrell.
The officer’s bullets also hit a nearby officer in the shoulder. The bullets also hit a subway rider identified as Gregory Delpeche.
Gregory was shot in the head and is currently in life threatening condition. Derrell was sent to the hospital, and he is not able to walk currently. Derrell was charged with attempted aggravated assault on a police officer, menacing an officer, weapons possession, and evading subway fare.
