Watch: A cop crashed out with bloody face and then got mad, pointing a gun at a driver. This is why you were stuck in traffic yesterday

A crash involving a Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department vehicle and a red vehicle occurred on July 23, 2025 on Independence Blvd. Charlotte, NC bringing traffic to a stand-still. Thomas Royster, 36, was driving the red car. Follow Charlotte Alerts on Instagram.

The crash happened during rush hour on East Independence Boulevard near the Briar Creek Road exit. A police vehicle and a red vehicle collided, damage to the police vehicle was extensive as shown in the video.

2 cops were in the vehicle and severely injured, they were identified as Officer L. Poplin and Officer S. Biondo. See more police car accidents here.

A man crashed during a police chase

The cops had head injuries and other trauma to their lower bodies. One cop’s face was super bloody from the wreck.

Another cop then got mad and pointed a gun at Thomas in the red vehicle, likely a use of excessive unnecessary force, per usual with police that don’t know the U.S. Constitution.

A man’s car flipped upside down in a chase

A lane was closed and the accident caused backups for hours. Thomas was arrested at gunpoint charged with felony serious injury by vehicle and revoked license.
