VIDEO: CHARLOTTE SHERIFF’S DEPUTY SHOT DURING TRAFFIC STOP

New video shows the moments Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Deputy Dijon Whyms was shot several times during a traffic stop on Salome Church Road Charlotte, NC.  The suspect is 23-year-old Aiden Bryant.

The shooting was at 4:15 p.m., in February 2022, Deputy Dijon was conducting a traffic stop. The deputy approached the vehicle, Aiden is accused of firing multiple shots at Deputy Dijon.

The deputy was shot 5 times and fell to the ground. But the deputy was still able to return fire, injuring the suspect. Both Deputy Dijon and Aiden were transported to Atrium Health Main hospital.

Deputy Dijon has been employed with the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office since 2002. The Deputy underwent surgery and is in recovery. Aiden also suffered injuries during  the shooting and was later arrested on several felonies.
