VICTIM DIES IN EAST CHARLOTTE APARTMENT FIRE

Fire Investigators with the Charlotte Fire Department Investigation Task Force are investigating a deadly fire that occurred on Friday, March 19, 2021 at 9:56 p.m. Darrell Woods, 54, died from the fire.

The Charlotte Fire Department responded to an apartment fire at 6208 Four Season Lane Charlotte, NC. Firefighters arrived on scene to find a two-story apartment unit with smoke and flames showing.

Darrell was an occupant with burn injuries, located outside of the home when firefighters arrived.

Firefighters treated Darrell on scene and then transferred care to medics. Darrell was then transported to an area hospital. Unfortunately, Darrell succumbed to his injuries on March 23, 2021 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center Burn Unit, firefighters say.

Darrell was the sole occupant of the apartment and no other injuries were reported. The Charlotte Fire Investigators Task Force determined the fire to be accidental and was most likely caused due to the careless use of smoking material and or candles. The estimated fire loss and damage is $26,500.
