TEEN ARRESTED ACCUSED OF MURDERING COLLEGE FOOTBALL PLAYER

On March 27, 2024, police arrested Tyzavian Smith, 18, and charged him with the murder of Shemar Hayes, 23, that occurred in Charlotte, NC. Shemar was a college football player, and graduate of Rocky River High School.

Shemar was shot and killed on Red Hickory Lane Charlotte, NC on March 12, 2024 at noon.

Shemar died on the scene. On March 27th Smith was located at his residence. A standoff began because the suspect failed to come outside for arrest.

The SWAT team was called. It took hours for Tyzavian to exit the home and surrender.  The suspect was then transported to police headquarters to be interviewed by detectives.

At the conclusion of the interview, Tyzavian was transferred into the custody of the Mecklenburg County Jail and charged with murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon.

Shemar attended Rocky River High School and graduated in 2019. He played wide receiver and earned a scholarship to Louisburg College on March 22, 2019.

Nahzir Taylor was also a Rocky River High School student, he was murdered at the bus stop

Shemar played in college for a few years. Ironically Shemar’s funeral was on March 22, 2024 the same day he signed to a football scholarship for college.
