On December 12, 2024 Stephen Montgomery, 34, pled guilty to shooting a man that was jogging in Charlotte, NC.

In September 2023 on Sharon Road the victim was jogging when he was approached by the Stephen.
Stephen without warning fired a gun directly at the victim striking him in the right calf. As the victim attempted to flee from the suspect, the suspect fired again and struck the victim in the left hand.
The suspect fled. A passerby vehicle was also struck during this incident. The occupants in the vehicle were unharmed.
Medics arrived on scene and transported the victim to an area hospital with non life threatening injuries. Stephen was arrested a few hours later.
At his 2024 trial Stephen pled guilty to first degree burglary, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and being a habitual felon.
For the assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon charges, the suspect was sentenced to 127-165 months in prison.
For the remaining charges he was sentenced to 110-144 months in prison. That sentence will run concurrently with the first sentence.
