Lee Funderburk had been missing for years, in May 2025 he was found dead in a junk yard
On May 14, 2025 Lee Funderburk was found dead at Leonard Salvage, it is a junk yard in Lexington, North Carolina. Lee went missing in 2016 within Charlotte, NC when he was 44 years old. Follow Charlotte Alerts on Instagram.

An employee with Leonard Salvage had located Lee’s skeleton inside of a vehicle at the junk yard. Click here to see the many human skeletons found in Charlotte. Through the investigation it was discovered the vehicle that the human remains had been removed from, had been transported from Charlotte on May 13, 2025, to Leonard Salvage.
A computerized check revealed that the skeleton was that of Mr. Lee.
The victim was last seen alive in Charlotte on March 25, 2016. He was reported missing in 2016 after he had not returned home, and his family was concerned for his safety.
The Medical Examiner’s Office was able to determine the cause of death was a homicide and skeletal human remains were identified as Lee Funderburk.
The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation assisted with this investigation. Missing people are often times found dead.
