On July 24, 2025 Jamar Davis, 39, pled guilty to murdering Rodney Hamilton, 52, in Charlotte, NC on Camp Greene St. Charlotte, NC. Jamar was in the United States Army and was awarded the Purple Heart. Follow Charlotte Alerts on Instagram.

Rodney was murdered on December 9, 2023. Rodney was a security guard at Reba’s Bar and Grill. Rodney was sitting in his car after a shift around 4 a.m.


After a brief high speed chase, Jamar was arrested charged with murder.
Avoiding a trial, Jamar pled guilty to second degree murder in July 2025. He was sentenced to 15 years in prison.

Jamar was in the U.S. Army and faced military combat in the Iraq war. He sustained a blast and was injured, he was awarded the Purple Heart. In February 2013 Jmar was shot five times by Mt. Holly police during a traffic stop because he pulled a gun. During the encounter Jmar was shot in the face, the neck, the leg, and twice in the back.
