A early morning vehicle collision on Interstate 85 killed one person

On May 9, 2026 a fatal crash took place on I-85 in Charlotte, NC near the Charlotte Douglas International Airport.

The vehicle crash happened at 3 a.m. on I-85 near the Little Rock Road exit. The victim was killed on impact. It appears this was a single vehicle collision.

The fatal car accident shut down traffic for some time in the area.
