Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department Officer Stephen Griffin was shot at in Charlotte, NC. Benny Hall, 20, was arrested on October 8, 2025. Benny is accused of shooting at cops during a family 911 call. Follow Charlotte Alerts on Instagram.

The shooting was on August 28, 2025 on Pineborough Road in Charlotte. A 911 caller reported that Benny was going through a mental break down and was communicating threats to her and her family.
Benny was in the street playing music and dancing. Officer Griffin arrived on scene and Benny is accused of immediately shooting a handgun multiple times at Officer Griffin.
The officer was still in his patrol car, as bullets came shooting into his window and busted the glass. Officer Griffin was scared and ducked for cover, he was cut in the face by glass shards.
Officers fired back at Benny and shot him. Benny went down after being shot. Benny was briefly paralyzed and had neck complications from the bullet.
Cops approached Benny while he was on the ground, cursing at him and threatening to shoot him again. Benny was handcuffed and transported to the hospital. Benny was in the ICU for months.
Benny could not control his bowels and was given adult diapers, also during his ICU stay in the hospital a catheter was attached to Benny to help him take a piss. Benny required constant nurse care to help him defecate and take baths. The shooting left Benny in a wheel-chair.
After over a month in the hospital, Benny took a mugshot in his hospital bed with a neck brace on, he was charged with attempted murder, assault with a firearm on a law enforcement officer, and discharging a firearm in an occupied vehicle.
