2 cops were shot on video in Brooklyn, NY in March 2021. The suspect identified as 44-year-old Ridhwaan Abdur Rashid had already shot his roommate in both legs.
Ridhwaan’s roommate had called police after Ridhwaan shot him twice inside an apartment at Prospect Lefferts Gardens.
Police arrived on scene and encountered Ridhwaan in the stairwell saying,
“Oh officers, yea I gave you a call.”
Ridhwaan then pulls out a gun and begins firing at several cops, officers fired back but missed. One officer was shot in the leg and a second officer was shot in the chest. Ridhwaan then ran back into the apartment unit, he was never shot.
Both officers were treated at an area hospital. A SWAT team was called in to talk Ridhwaan down. After several hours, cops finally negotiated with Ridhwaan to come out of the apartment.
Ridhwaan exited and was taken to a mental health hospital. After that, Ridhwaan was charged with attempted murder of a police officer, attempted murder and criminal possession of a weapon and unlawful imprisonment.
