On April 14, 2023 Kameen Thomas, 22, was killed on Interstate 77 in Iredell County, NC during a stolen vehicle car chase. Cops say Kameen was driving a stolen Kia from Charlotte, NC.
A 2021 Kia Seltos traveling south on I-77 was being pursued by the Mooresville Police Department at 2 a.m. Officers deployed stop sticks and the Kia struck the stop sticks. The tires became deflated and the vehicle came to a stop at a toll lane.
The driver of the Kia identified as Kameen exited the vehicle and jumped across the concrete highway barrier. A passenger in the vehicle also got out and ran.
Kameen was then struck by a Toyota Tacoma on the highway. Kameen died at the scene. The passenger in the Kia was not located. The NC State Highway Patrol responded to the scene.
