63-year-old Marion Gales was arrested on February 19, 2026 accused of murdering Kim Thomas, 32, in Charlotte, NC. This is a 35 year old cold case, Kim was murdered on July 2, 1990. Kim’s husband Ed Friedland who is a wealthy doctor was first arrested in the case in the 1990s, but charges were dismissed.
Kim was a mother who was killed in her Cotswold home on July 2, 1990. Her husband Dr. Ed Friedland found Kim dead and dismembered in their home. Dr. Friedland called police. Click here to see more cold cases.
Police then arrested Dr. Friedland in the crime. But charges were later dismissed. 35 years later due to a sloppy investigation, cops magically said Marion was responsible for the crime. DNA from Marion was found on the floor at the crime scene, but Marion did work at Kim and Dr. Friedland’s home fixing things.
Marion was released from prison in 2025 for manslaughter in a separate case. Marion was arrested on February 19, 2026 charged with murder.
