A latino man’s work van was blocking parking spots and shots were fired at his infant son
39-year-old James Raeford was arrested on October 19, 2025 accused of shooting a 3-year-old kid in a work van with his latino father at an apartment complex on Sloping Oaks Rd Charlotte, NC.
James had his Infiniti SUV parked in a parking spot. The latino man parked his work van next to the Infiniti without leaving enough room for James to get in his SUV to leave. James asked the latino man to move his van.
The latino man refused and allegedly tried to run over James with the van. James shot at the van and hit the victim’s 3-year-old child who was sitting in the passenger seat of the van.
The victim then sped off into a nearby neighborhood and called cops. The child was shot in the back and was bleeding. An ambulance took the kid to the hospital.
James went to the jail voluntarily to tell cops what occurred. James was arrested charged with assault with intent to kill. The child is expected to be okay from the shooting.
