A latino man is dead, all while massive unjust Border Patrol raids and arrests were occurring in Charlotte
Olvin Calero Martinez, 45, died on November 17, 2025 after an incident on Eastway Drive Charlotte, NC which is a predominant latino area of town. The man happened to die at a time when Border Patrol had invaded Charlotte to arrest and deport latino illegal immigrants. Many of the detainments and arrest have been unconstitutional and racist, even an American Uber driver was detained.
On Nov. 3, 2025, at 6:07 a.m., Olvin was walking on Eastway Dr outside of the marked cross walk, when he was hit by a Chevrolet Silverado truck. The truck had heavy front end damage. Border Patrol has been active in arresting latino people on Eastway Dr since they arrived in Charlotte to do raids.
Olvin was knocked in the air and landed on the asphalt. Olvin was unresponsive when EMS arrived, he was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
The driver of the Chevrolet truck remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation. Impairment is not expected for the driver of the Chevrolet. Speed is not a factor in this case.
On November 17, 2025 Olvin died from injuries in the crash. He was pronounced dead at the hospital. Many latino people are scared ever since Border Patrol and ICE invaded Charlotte to conduct deportation arrests and raids, even though latinos voted heavily for Donald Trump in the 2024 election.
Even a latino church was raided by Border Patrol, latino members ran in the woods to escape, but some were caught, arrested and taken away in front of their wives and kids.
