JUVENILE VICTIM KILLED WHILE RIDING BICYCLE, MAN HIT VICTIM WITH VEHICLE

Rodney McCorkle, 19, kept driving when he hit a juvenile victim riding a bike on Glenwood Drive Charlotte, NC.

The accident was on December 27, 2019. The juvenile was riding in the roadway when a 2016 gray Honda Civic sedan struck the victim. Rodney was the driver.

The juvenile was thrown onto the hood and into the windshield. The bicycle became stuck beneath the vehicle. The driver traveled a short distance before braking.

The juvenile fell off the hood of the suspect vehicle into the roadway. The suspect vehicle then continued on Glenwood Drive before turning onto I-85 North with the bicycle still stuck beneath it.

The victim was sent to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. The victim was pronounced deceased at 6:16 p.m.

At 7:20 p.m., the mother of the driver called to report that her son had struck a pedestrian on Glenwood Drive earlier and wanted to turn himself in. The vehicle was recovered a short time later and was found to contain drug paraphernalia and to have been reported stolen.

Rodney was arrested and charged with Felony Hit and Run, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of Stolen Vehicle.
