2 major highways in Charlotte, NC have been shut down because of snow and ice from the winter storm that dropped over 10 inches of snow in Charlotte. The National Guard was even called in to rescue people. American Airlines has cancelled all flights into and out of Charlotte, NC. I-277 and I-85 are closed down due to the snow. Interstate 277 was closed down near the Briar Creek exit due to the slippery icy conditions. Cops shut the highway down due to multiple crashes.

A crash on I-85 North led to the highway being shut down. Thousands of people and vehicles were stranded on the highway. Many could not turn around because of the raised metal median in the road.
The National Guard was called in to assist with the recovery efforts and to save stranded drivers. The crash was at 4:30 p.m.
Some kids are stuck with their parents.
