The Mecklenburg district attorney has let another man walk free after killing a victim near a gay bar
Rogerick Currie, 35, was shot and killed in Charlotte, NC near the gay club Woodshed bar. The killer of Rogerick is set free, as the fatal shooting was ruled as a justified homicide on October 7, 2025. Follow Charlotte Alerts on Instagram.

The murder was on Queen City Drive at 1:15 a.m. on September 7, 2025. Rogerick was with a man in a car when he was shot with a handgun just blocks away from the Woodshed club. EMS and police arrived on scene and found Rogerick shot. Rogerick knew the man that shot him, they were having some sort of dispute.
Rogerick was rushed to the hospital where he died within moments. After an investigation the Mecklenburg County district attorney classified this case as a justified homicide, citing self defense. Rogerick was in the Alpha fraternity, some of their pledging rituals have been questioned and are border line in-masculine.
Some recruits for the Alpha fraternity during the pledging process have to stand in a line, the first has to swallow a raw egg yoke, then spit the egg into the next person’s mouth.
This process continues to all members in the line, and then the last person in the line has to swallow the egg. The Omega fraternity has a similar process.
In fact a student member of the Omega fraternity was killed during the pledging process in a hazing event. The student was punched in the chest multiple times to the point that he urinated on himself and died. The family of the student is now suing the Omega Fraternity.
