FELON SHOT BY POLICE ON WEST SUGAR CREEK

An officer involved shooting occurred on October 3, 2024 on West Sugar Creek Road Charlotte, NC.

In the late evening officers were conducting patrols in the high crime, high prostitution, high crack cocaine and meth addicted area. 

Officers saw a known suspect in possession of a gun, cops knew that he was a convicted felon and not allowed to have a gun. A cop shot and killed a man in Charlotte less than 30 days ago in a traffic stop, the cop was shot also. Cops initiated contact with the suspect in the parking lot of a restaurant on West Sugar Creek. Upon making contact with the suspect, a brief struggle ensued.

Officers perceived an imminent deadly threat, and one officer shot the suspect several times. The suspect was in possession of two firearms; both were recovered on scene.

The suspect was transported by ambulance to the hospital with life threatening injuries. All officers on scene were unharmed. The suspect has an extensive violent criminal history including attempted murder and murder.
