Alexander Komthongpane, 33, died in a vehicle wreck on August 22, 2024 on Freedom Drive Charlotte, NC. Alexander leaves behind 4 children.

Alexander was a suspect in multiple cases of stolen motor vehicle parts at Charlotte Douglas International Airport. Between August 18, 2024 and August 20, 2024, airport pilots had their BMW car tires stolen from the airport parking lot. Alexander was identified as the suspect, but he was already gone from the scene when police showed up.In the afternoon hours of August 22, 2024, North Carolina State Highway Patrol troopers made attempts to stop Alexander in a vehicle for speeding and seat belt violations.
Alexander failed to stop. During the pursuit, Alexander lost control of the vehicle, ran off the roadway and struck a tree near the intersection of Fred D. Alexander Boulevard and Freedom Drive.
He was pronounced deceased on the scene. Detectives were able to determine the BMW wheels on the suspect’s vehicle were taken from the larceny cases at the airport.Mr. Komthongpane was known to officers for his involvement in multiple catalytic converter thefts and larceny of motor vehicle theft cases across the city of Charlotte.
