FAMILY GETS $80 MILLION IN POLICE LAWSUIT AFTER GIRL KILLED IN HIGH SPEED CHASE

Date:

On December 12, 2024 a jury awarded the family of 10-year-old Da’Karia Spicer $80 million in a gripping lawsuit after Da’karia was killed during a high speed chase in Chicago, Illinois involving The Chicago Police Department.

Da’Karia Spicer

Da’karia was killed in September 2020. Da’karia was riding with her father and young brother. Cops tried pulling over another vehicle for a traffic stop. The suspect vehicle sped off and cops with The Chicago Police Department chased after the suspect.

The suspect then crashed into a sedan, the suspect also crashed into the vehicle Da’karia and her family were riding in.

The crash killed Da’karia on impact. Da’karia’s brother and father were injured in the wreck, but survived. The family then filed a lawsuit against the city of Chicago and the police department.

Sadly the city of Chicago fought the case instead of settling, The Chicago Police Department said they were not at fault of the crash, saying the police pursuit did not cause the accident.

In November 2024, the City of Chicago later admitted responsibility. In December 2024 a jury returned a verdict that the city and police department must pay Da’karia’s family $80 million.
