The counterfeit Apple merchandise arrived from Hong Kong and were concealed in generic packaging
U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers assigned to international cargo operations at the Los Angeles/Long Beach Seaport (LA/LB) in California and Ontario International Airport also in California seized 1,200 pairs of counterfeit Apple AirPod wireless headphones and 220 counterfeit Apple wrist wearable devices in July 2023.

The counterfeit products were infringing Apple registered copyrights and trademarks. The seized products had an manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) of $396,812.
The counterfeit products arrived in six individual shipments via air cargo to the Ontario airport and the maritime container at the Los Angeles seaport.
The counterfeit products included Apple Watches, Apple Ultra Watches, Apple AirPods, and Apple AirPods Pro.
In an attempt to evade detection, the counterfeit items were concealed in generic packaging, and illicitly manifested as generic head phones.
Fake Apple products lack the advance features found in genuine ones such as active noise cancellation, water resistance, and seamless integration with Apple devices.
