A double shooting occurred at Romare Bearden Park on South Church Street Charlotte, NC. Kashif Simmons, 37, is accused of shooting two people on April 16, 2023.
At 4:00 p.m., officers working in the area of Romare Bearden Park heard gunshots and immediately began to circulate for the source of the gunfire.
Officers located two people in the park who had sustained gunshot wounds. Officers also quickly located and apprehended the suspect in this incident.
Paramedics responded and transported the victims to local hospitals with life threatening injuries.
A firearm was recovered from the scene. Kasjif is charged with attempted first degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, and discharging a firearm in city limits.
