A triple shooting at South Carolina State University occurred on campus on Thursday evening February 12, 2026. Two people were killed in the shooting, the third shot victim was a student at the school. South Carolina State University is a Historically Black College University known as HBCU. The university is in Orangeburg, SC. Follow Charlotte Alerts on Instagram.
Around 9 p.m. suspects began shooting on campus inside a dorm room. 2 people on the campus were killed, they were not students. The third victim who is a student was shot and hospitalized.
The two deceased men were visiting campus as guests of another student. The university was placed on lock down for 15 hours after the shooting.
Classes were canceled on Friday and through Monday, including all weekend activities. The Saturday’s men’s basketball game against Morgan State at the Smith-Middleton-Hamilton Memorial Center has been postponed to Feb.25, 2026.
There have been many students at black colleges that have died this year.
