COMMUNITY VOLUNTEER KILLED IN CRASH NEAR CAROWINDS

On September 13, 2023 Jean Allen, 49, was killed in a motorcycle collision on Carowinds Blvd. Charlotte, NC. Jean was a frequent volunteer with community organizations that fed homeless people. 

At 8:13 p.m. Jean was driving a Harley Davidson motorcycle on Carowinds Boulevard when it collided with a Honda vehicle as it turned onto Carowinds Blvd. 

Jean struck the driver’s side of the Honda and was thrown from the motorcycle. The driver of the Honda sustained minor injuries in the crash and was treated at Atrium Health Hospital Steele Creek.

The Honda had heavy driver’s side damage. The Harley Davidson was badly damaged in the roadway. 

Paramedics responded to the scene and transported Jean to Atrium Health Main Hospital with life threatening injuries. 

Jean was pronounced deceased shortly after hospital arrival.
