19-year-old Omari Alexander was shot and killed on Saturday November 20, 2021 at approximately 12:54 A.M. in Hickory, NC. Omari was a sophomore on the Lenoir-Rhyne football team. He played linebacker.
Omari played high school football at Mallard Creek High School in Charlotte, NC.
Hickory police officers responded to apartments in Hickory regarding a shots fired call. Upon arrival, officers located a black 2015 Chevrolet Camaro with the engine running in the parking lot of the apartment complex.
Officers approached the vehicle and observed an unresponsive 19-year-old black male, later identified as Omari Alexander sitting in the driver’s seat of the vehicle with multiple gunshot wounds.
Officers attempted to provide medical aid to the victim until emergency medical service arrived on scene. Upon arrival, paramedics evaluated Omari and pronounced him deceased at the scene.
There is no suspect information at this time.
