On April 7, 2024 Sophie Gordon, 16, and Robert Fox, were killed in a fatal collision on I-40 in Asheville, NC. Sophie attended Myers Park High School in Charlotte, NC. 4 others were injured including Abby Lyn Robinson and Isabella Tarantelli who both go to Charlotte Catholic private school. The crash was at 3 a.m. Sophie, Robert, Abby, Isabella, and 2 other people were riding in a vehicle on Interstate 40.
The driver attempted to take an exit but the vehicle was traveling too fast and lost control, ran off the left side of the roadway and struck a tree.

Six people total were in the vehicle at the time of the crash. Sophie and Robert died on impact.
South Meck High School students Kaia Hodge and Jada Cousins were killed in a collision
Abby and Isabella were taken to the hospital in ICU at Mission Hospital in Asheville. Two more passengers were transported to the hospital with injuries.
Sophie was a junior at Myers Park. Abby and Isabella were juniors at Charlotte Catholic.
