On February 8, 2023, a employee at Wilson STEM Academy in Charlotte, NC was arrested by Crimes Against Children detectives. The suspect is identified as 25-year-old David Lucas. David is employed by Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools as a family engagement advocate.
The complaint came in on February 7, 2023. A female student at the academy told a school resource officer that she was inappropriately touched by an adult male employee at the academy.
Detectives with the Crimes Against Children Unit responded to the scene to take over the investigation.
The very next day, David was arrested without incident. He was transported to the police law enforcement center.
Following an interview with detectives, David was transferred to the custody of the jail in Charlotte.
David is charged with indecent liberties with a child, taking indecent liberties with a student by a school administrator, and 1st degree kidnapping.
