Dimitri Green, 27, was arrested on June 18, 2024 in Wise County, Virginia after a deadly high speed chase. Dimitri was charged with murder. Dimitri is from Charlotte, NC. Follow Charlotte Alerts on Instagram.
The situation stemmed from a theft in Kentucky. Dimitri and 2 other suspects were accused of theft in a silver Audi. Cops tried to pull the suspect vehicle over, but the vehicle accelerated in speed and refused to stop.
The chase then went on into Virginia. Cops in Virginia then took over and began to chase the suspects.
The alleged driver was identified as Dimitri. Cops tried to use a pursuit intervention technique to end the chase, but Dimitri avoided the police officer’s attempts.
Cops then tried using spike stripes, but Dimitri drove on the median to avoid hitting them. Authorities said Dimitri crossed the median on U.S. Route 23 into oncoming traffic.
The suspect narrowly missed dozens of vehicles while often driving at speeds of more than 100 mph. Cops say Dimitri crashed head on with another vehicle during the chase. A passenger in the victim vehicle died.
Dimitri was also injured and charged with felony homicide. The 2 suspects in the vehicle with Dimitri were badly injured and taken to the hospital. Charges are pending against the passengers.
