The American Deli located at 5700 University Pointe Blvd. Charlotte, NC scored an 78 C on a food safety inspection on July 22, 2024. American Deli has performed terribly on food inspections quite often.

The inspector observed no American Deli employees wash their hands within the 2 hours of the inspection.
Employees were handling raw meat, leaving the work station multiple times, and touching door handles and prep top handles while never stopping to wash their hands.
Raw chicken was stored above bread in the walk-in freezer. The dicer and strainer were stored as clean, but had dirty food debris on them.
The inside of the ice machine door had large amounts of buildup.
Turkey, ham, and yellow and white american cheese slices, and chicken wings in the prep top cooler were being held at unsafe temperatures above 41 F, they were then discarded.
Ranch and tartar sauce cups were being held out of refrigeration above 41 F for over 4 hours, the inspector had them both thrown away.
A container of sliced onions were on the floor in the back; an American Deli employee was actively slicing the onions and putting them in a container on the floor.
None of the American Deli employees had head coverings on. Shelves in the walk-in cooler and rolling cart shelves had large amounts of rust and buildup.
